Introducing Tourism to Schools
As part of the 360-degree approach, UN Tourism works to introduce tourism concepts at the school level, fostering early awareness and interest in the sector. The UN Tourism Education Toolkit for High Schools was published in order to support the integration of tourism into curricula, now available for Member States.
What were the main findings?
- Tourism is not included in 77% of the assesed UN Tourism Member States at high school level
- Within the UN Tourism Member States where there is a vocational track at High School (55%), 81% of them include Tourism.

Is there any support for the implementation of this at local and national level?
- Advisory Services at UN Tourism: Advisory services for the integration of the tourism education at secondary education are available, both at high school and VET option within high school years.
- UN Tourism is partnering with key stakeholders to position tourism as a subject in secondary education, to be made available for everyone, everywhere: Continued support to reinforce and advance the integration of tourism for youth.
