Global consultation on the Statistical Framework for Measuring the Sustainability of Tourism
The Statistical Framework for Measuring the Sustainability of Tourism (SF-MST) aims to provide an integrated framework describing the main concepts, definitions and data organization structures to support the production and organization of internationally comparable data on the impacts and dependencies of tourism on the economy, society and the environment.
The MST Editorial Board has guided the drafting processes and worked closely with 9 specialized research teams to resolve key measurement issues. The development of the SF-MST has benefited from the experience of 29 pilots in countries and multiple rounds of consultation including a large consultation undertaken in the context of the 6th International Conference on Tourism Statistics: Measuring Sustainable Tourism held in 2017 in Manila, the Philippines. It is the results of valuable efforts and collaboration of 44 countries and 30+ international organizations, academic institutions, and regional tourism authorities.
The global consultation took place in October and November 2023.
