The mission of the Buenos Aires Tourism Observatory is to gather data and generate key information to guide the private and public sectors’ decision making process and to become global leaders in the production of strategic knowledge using Big Data and innovative research methods, thus strengthening tourism governance and taking effective data driven decisions in an ever-changing and competitive market.

The Buenos Aires Tourism Observatory was originally established in 2009 with the main purpose for collecting and analyzing information for the tourism sector. Nowadays, in order to achieve the objective established by the DMO to foster the economic impact of tourism in the city, the Tourism Observatory undertakes several projects under the 3 main areas of work below.

In the 19th century, the Argentine state, with the aim of populating a large nation, promoted European immigration. Thus, the port of Buenos Aires was the arrival point of the Spaniards, Italians, Lebanese, Syrians, Poles and Russians who will define it as a cosmopolitan and dynamic city, rich in cultural diversity.
