The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), its UNWTO.Themis Foundation and the Bahrain Tourism & Exhibition Authority (BTEA), in collaboration with World Federation of Tourist Guide Association (WFTGA), are offering the UNWTO Training Programme in the Kingdom of Bahrain on “Tour Guiding”.

Objective of the initiative | The objective is to improve the guiding skills of local tourist guides in Bahrain. This will be achieved by organizing two types of courses: Hands-on Tourist Guiding Courses (HoT) for 100 participants, after which will follow the Train the Trainer Course (TtT) for the 12 most successful participating guides. Having the TtT component will ensure the creation of local capacity which will allow the replication of this activity in the future. These courses will give Bahrain tourist guides the opportunity to acquaint with the international standards in tourism guiding and promote WFTGA Code of Guiding Practice. |

Objective of the course | The central goal of this initiative is the improvement of guiding skills and techniques of local guides who play an important role in the tourism sector as Ambassadors for the tourist. These courses will give Bahrain tourist guides the opportunity to acquaint with the international standards in tourism guiding and promote WFTGA Code of Guiding Practice. The training course aims to develop common capacity building standards and guidelines which will furthermore:
1. Enhance the overall visitor experience to sites with an outstanding cultural and natural heritage 2. Improve the connectivity and accessibility to sites, encouraging herewith the development of specific tourism products and services 3. Spread the dispersal of tourist and encourage increased length of stay and yield 4. Present this initiative as a best-practice example to be replicated in Bahrain by local trainers in the future
