The repercussions of the ongoing global health crisis are being felt in all sectors of the economy, with travel and tourism being one of the hardest hit. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, UNWTO has been taking measures to assist its members to respond effectively to its impact on their tourism sectors through initiatives such as the formation of a global crisis committee and the formulation of recommendations to mitigate the impacts on travel and tourism.
TheUNWTO-Casa Árabe joint webinar on the Economic impact of COVID-19 on the tourism sector in the Arab world, to be organized on Wednesday, 21st October 2020, will analyse the size of this impact in Arab countries and its consequences in different areas, employment and related industries, as well as the recommendations and strategies for its recovery. In this context, a particular focus will be put on the MICE Tourism (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), particularly affected by the Pandemics but adapting to it in different innovative ways, with the participation of key experts and decision-makers in the Arab tourism sector. The meeting is organized in the framework of UNWTO-Casa Árabe`s collaboration and it is part of a series of webinars that the UNWTO Regional Programme for the Middle East has been organizing since the outbreak of the COVID-19, as well as part of a series of Casa Árabe’s roundtables organized online on the socioeconomic impact of the Pandemics in Arab countries.
