Tourism Data and Matching Priorities - Ukraine

Ukraine is the Chair of the Regional Commission for Europe (2023 - 2025)
Post-War Recovery Support – UNWTO will provide specialized technical assistance to support Ukraine in its post-war recovery efforts, including tourism infrastructure rehabilitation, destination marketing, and capacity building for local tourism stakeholders.
Tourism Infrastructure Rehabilitation

- Encourage investments in tourism infrastructure rehabilitation in the war-affected regions of Ukraine, including the restoration
- and development of hotels, attractions, transportation networks, and cultural heritage sites.
- Promote public-private partnerships to mobilize resources and expertise for the reconstruction and improvement of tourism infrastructure in affected areas.
Destination Marketing and Promotion

- Support Ukraine in rebuilding its image as a safe and attractive tourism destination through targeted marketing and promotional campaigns focused on its diverse cultural heritage, natural landscapes, and unique tourism experiences.
- Highlight stories of resilience, community rebuilding, and post-war recovery in Ukraine's tourism sector, showcasing how tourism can contribute to healing and revitalizing war-affected regions.
Capacity Building and Training

- Possible training programs and capacity-building initiatives for tourism professionals in war-affected regions, focusing on areas such as hospitality management, tour guiding, sustainable tourism practices, and crisis management, in collaboration with Germany and other neighboring countries of Ukraine
- Leverage the resources and expertise of UNWTO.Academy to provide tailored training programs and educational resources for tourism stakeholders in Ukraine, supporting their efforts in post-war recovery.
International Cooperation and Solidarity

- Facilitation of international cooperation and solidarity by connecting Ukraine with other countries and organizations that have experienced post-war recovery and successfully rebuilt their tourism sectors.
- Organization of knowledge-sharing platforms, conferences, and workshops where international experts and stakeholders can share their experiences, best practices, and lessons learned in post-war recovery in the tourism sector.

Strategy of Tourism and resorts 2017-2026
The strategy defines state tourism policy in following areas:
- Safety of tourists
- Regulatory Framework
- Development of tourism infrastructure
- Human resources development
Strategy envisages that by 2026 in Ukraine:
- Number of foreign tourists will increase 2.5 times
- Number of domestic tourists will increase 5 times
- Number of jobs in tourism sector will increase 5 times
- Budgets at all levels of tourism will increase 10 times
- Number of Ukraine tour operators and tour agencies will grow 5 times
- Tourists will spend while traveling in Ukraine more than 80 billion UAH (around 2,9 billion US dollars)
- Create a positive image of Ukraine as a country that is attractive for tourism
