Call for Proposals - Colourful Cultures
Welcome to the Tourism for Rural Development Small Grants Programme Call for Proposals ‘Colourful Cultures’ enabled by TUI Care Foundation.
This call is dedicated to supporting projects that preserve and promote the rich traditions of African communities, with an emphasis on empowering artists, artisans, women, and youth. Through this initiative, we aim to foster cultural exchange, economic empowerment, and sustainable tourism development in rural destinations across the continent.
About
The ‘Colourful Cultures’ call for proposals is opened under the Tourism for Rural Development Small Grants Programme by UN Tourism and is enabled by TUI Care Foundation.
It focuses on harnessing the cultural richness of rural communities across Africa. This grant aims to foster sustainable tourism practices and economic empowerment for local artisans and artists.
The Colourful Cultures call aims to:
- Increase the capacity of artists and artisans to participate in and benefit from the tourism economy, thereby enhancing their income.
- Enhance the visibility of artists and artisans within tourism destinations across the targeted African countries.
- Improve the availability of support services for artists and artisans in rural tourism destinations.
Framework
The call is designed to support projects that:
- Promote Intangible Cultural Heritage: Projects that document, preserve, and celebrate cultural traditions and heritage.
- Enhance Cultural Tourism: Initiatives that develop sustainable tourism activities that respect and showcase local culture.
- Support Community Involvement: Projects that actively engage local communities in cultural preservation and promotion.
- Funding : Up to 20,000 EUR per project with a minimum 10% cofinancing (financial or in-kind)
Target Countries
Projects funded under the ‘Colourful Cultures’ Call for Proposals shall be implemented in rural destinations located in the following African countries:
- Morocco
- Mozambique
- Namibia
- Rwanda
- Senegal
- South Africa
- Tanzania
- The Gambia
- Tunisia
- Zambia
Beneficiaries
Local artists and artisans (particularly women and youth) in rural tourism destinations.
