7th IFT Training at the Global Centre for Tourism Education and Training
The Global Centre for Tourism Education and Training of IFT will organize the 7th Training Programme on “Sustainable Tourism Planning and Destination Management” in collaboration with UNWTO
The Institute for Tourism Studies’ (IFT) Global Centre for Tourism Education and Training (GCTET) in collaboration with UNWTO will organize an eight-day training programme on the theme of “Sustainable Tourism Planning & Destination Management” from 15-22 May 2019 in Macao SAR.
This will be the seventh edition of the Training Programme. A maximum of 20 participants from South Asian UNWTO Member States will be invited by IFT to attend the trainning.
This Training Programme began in 2015 after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between UNWTO and the Macao SAR Government to enhance the cooperation between the two parties to improve the quality of human capital and increasing the competitiveness of tourism destinations in order to achieve sustainable tourism development. Through this collaboration, a total 127 participants from UNWTO Member States were trained, strengthening Macao SAR's position as an international tourism training hub.
The 7th Training Porgramme will include lectures, case studies analysis, experience sharings, presentations and technical visits. The lectures will be delivered by IFT professors and scholars. During the programme, the technical visits will aim to provide the participants with practical examples of sustainable tourism planning and destination management through case studies located in Macao (e.g. historical sites, hotels, etc.).

In 2017, IFT became the world’s first higher education institution to pass International Quality Review(IQR) from the UK's Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA). IFT has been highly ranked by QS World University Rankings in the subject area of Hospitality and Leisure Management. In addition, IFT has received the Medal of Merit in Tourism from the Macao SAR Government, and twice won the Gold Award in ‘Education and Training’ from the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA).
