The UNWTO Regional Seminar for East Africa on Tourism Policy and Strategy has finalized

The UNWTO Regional Seminar for East Africa on Tourism Policy and Strategy, organized by the World Tourism Organization, the UNWTO.Themis Foundation and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism of Tanzania held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania was closed on 16 September 2011.

 

Launched on 12 September 2011 by Ezekiel Maige, Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism, Nuru Millao, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism; Ibrahim Mussa, Director of Tourism, Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism; Helder Tomas, Deputy Director, UNWTO Regional Programme for Africa,  the 5-day Seminar provided the 62 participants with knowledge, skills, tools and hands-on practice (based on Bagamoyo) on sustainable tourism, the principles of the Global Code of Ethics for Tourism and the Millennium Development Goals, the impacts of tourism,  added value and the supply of tourism destinations, tourism markets and communication of tourism, and with real solutions to the gaps and problems tourism officials may face.

 

The participants from Burundi, Kenya, Sudan, Tanzania and Zimbabwe, on 16 September, attended the closing ceremony, closed by Abdallah Sajini, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Prime Minister Office, Regional Administration and Local Government; Donatius Kamamba, Ag. Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism; Zehoro Kimwaga, Ag. Director of Tourism, Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism and Helder Tomas, Deputy Director, UNWTO Regional Programme for Africa.
