International conference on information and protection of tourists/consumers – towards innovative and shared instruments

On 16 February 2012 – opening day of the International Tourism Exchange (BIT) – an International Conference on Information and protection of tourists/consumers “towards innovative and shared instruments” will take place at the Fiera Milano Convention Centre (2:30 p.m. – Sala Gemini).

The Conference, which is organized by the Italian Government in collaboration with UNWTO, will be opened by the Italian Minister for Regional Affairs, Tourism and Sport, Piero Gnudi, and moderated by the Head of the Department for the Development and Competitiveness of Tourism, Caterina Cittadino. Taleb Rifai, Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and Antonio Tajani, Vice President of the European Commission, will introduce discussion.

Main objective of the event is to provide public and private stakeholders with understanding of existing best practices and to promote innovative proposals on the protection of tourists/consumers, also in the light of the international action led by the UNWTO on this crucial issue.
