The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) organized the first expert Consultation on technical elements of event and travel advisories. This workshop aimed to improve the relevancy, efficiency, transparency of information related to negative events, and to help limiting their undesired repercussions by focussing on:

• Georeferencing standards of event related information
• Time stamps and expiry dates of event related information
• Machine-readable and retrievable information mechanism

The meeting was held in English.

The recommendations on the Use of Georeferences, Date and Time in Travel Adice and Event Information were approved at the UNWTO General Assembly last October 2011. To access the PDF version of the Recommendations, please click here.
