The 2nd Metro Manila Tourism Convention 2016 (MMTC) entitled "TUKLAS (DISCOVER): Sustainability as a Pathway for Tourism Development" aims to give awareness to the future tourism professionals with the importance and benefits of sustainability as a prominent factor for tourism development. Since 2017 is declared by the United Nations as the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development, this convention will help the participants raise the knowledge and information regarding the different concepts of tourism as a driver of economic growth, inclusive development and environmental sustainability to the Tourism Industry. Objectives: a. To identify the significance of sustainability, especially to tourism development; b. To understand the importance of tourism development in resolving issues on poverty; c. To discuss the effects of cultural preservation to the plans and projects for tourism development; d. To analyze the ways on how the government and non-government organizations preserve and protect the natural resources for tourism development; and e. To examine the opportunities of the future tourism professionals that can execute simple actions for sustainability
