The UNWTO Ethics Award was established in 2016 and is open to all companies and associations that are official signatories of the Private Sector Commitment to the UNWTO Global Code of Ethics for Tourism and have reported on its implementation.

The deadline for submitting applications is 30 September 2017. Please make sure to read the Guidelines before completing your application. Applications not respecting the conditions listed in the Statement of Understanding will not be considered. The needed documents are available for download at the bottom of this page.

The Jury of the UNWTO Ethics Award is composed of the Chair and of members of the World Committee on Tourism Ethics (WCTE), an independent and impartial body responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Global Code of Ethics for Tourism. In selecting the awardee, WCTE Members follow the criteria set forth in the Ethics Award Guidelines.  The Chair of the Committee, or his/her representative; will award the prize during the official Ceremony on 17 January 2018 at the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) in Madrid, Spain.

UNWTO Awards Forum

The UNWTO Awards Forum will be held prior to the Awards Ceremony on 15 January 2018.

The forum is held to highlight best practices and theories showcased by the UNWTO Awards finalists. The forum includes keynote speeches by the UNWTO Ulysses Prize and the Lifetime Achievement laureates, presentations by the awardees and a high level panel discussion on the current status of innovation in tourism and how to improve knowledge flows within the tourism community, therefore bridging theory and practice.
