Seminar on Employment in Tourism - Realizing its Full Potential
The World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) and “Escuela de Organización Industrial” (EOI) with support of Club Malaga Valley organized a Joint Seminar on “Employment in Tourism – Realizing its Full Potential.” The seminar was held in Malaga (Spain) from 19-20 November 2013 at the Trade Fairs and Congress Center and the Malaga City Hall
In this seminar, the participants explored the field of employment in the tourism sector by discussing evidence-based policy, best practices, and innovations related to employment issues in Tourism as well as challenges and possible solutions for measuring employment in the tourism industries in particular.
The seminar was organized as one of the key technical UN Tourism meetings held since its international conference “Tourism: An Engine for Employment Creation” (Bali, Indonesia, 30 March – 2 April 2009). The meeting involved 60 participants, including government officials from ministries, national tourism authorities and national statistical organisations of Austria, Brazil, Croatia, Ireland, Mozambique, New Zealand, Poland, the Philippines, Spain, Sultanate of Oman, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. In addition, the Seminar was attended by representatives of the ILO and the OECD, as well as academia and research in the area of tourism development
