In March 2017, a training workshop held in Guangdong, addressed the role that the tourism sector can play in poverty reduction strategies. 

Representatives of Provincial Tourist Authorities and Provincial Tourism Organizations, in particular from the Guangdong Province, stakeholders from the private sector and Chinese NGOs attended the event.
