Expanding of capacity building including training facilities | SDGs 4, 8, 17

Capacity-building is essential to ensure the success of economic transformation, especially for the vitality and sustainability of the tourism sector for inclusive growth and poverty eradication. As African countries are recovering from the pandemic, there is a crucial need for up-skilling and re-skilling of personnel in the tourism sector, are fundamental building block of a resilient tourism sector that needs to be prepared to meet the future job market once international travel has resumed.

The World Tourism Organization is a central pillar to support tourism recovery through an unhindered commitment to the training and education of the tourism workforce. To this end, digital tools have been designed to enable the growth of a more inclusive and democratic tourism education model accessible to everyone, anywhere in the world as the UNWTO Tourism Online Academy.

UNWTO ensures continuous and constant training of the professionals and future leaders of tourism through the provision of technical assistance and of the capacity-building programs of the UNWTO Academy with the purpose of enhancing and consolidating skills, competences and abilities so as to meet the requirements of the market demand and realize the evolution of the tourism sector.
