WORLD TOURISM DAY 2023 CELEBRATION
NUST HOTEL SCHOOL
The NUST (Namibia University of Science and Technology) Hotel School, Hospitality and Tourism Department are proposing, as part of their 2021-2025 strategy, to celebrate World Tourism Day through hosting an informative industry stakeholder workshop. This event is intended as a platform to promote the annual UNWTO theme, to present workshops pertaining to the theme and as of 2024 to present vetted research in Tourism. This will establish the Department of Hospitality and Tourism at NUST as a leader in education and research in the field of sustainable tourism, enabling the Department to demonstrate innovation and
sustainability.
The event will bring together decision-makers, tourism businesses, financial and international
organizations to deliberate towards promoting green investment and environmentally conscious
tourism business practices in Namibia as part of the celebrations.
The event will further create a platform to share best practices in a form of exhibits in sustainable
tourism at the NUST Hotel School. It will also introduce NUST Hotel School as the future hub for knowledge based research on environmental sustainability in tourism.
