Vietnamese Women in Tourism
Join us! And let's talk #Women and #Tourism (in Vietnam)!
Women make up the majority of the global tourism workforce with 54% (UNWTO, 2021). In Vietnam, although sex-disaggregated data in tourism employment has been limited, women’s significant role in tourism particularly and in broader economic activities cannot be denied. While Vietnamese women contributed to 70% of the total national labor force (ILO, 2020), Vietnam’s female participation in tourism was ranked 28th out of 140th studied countries, higher than average figures of the world and Asia-Pacific region (WEF, 2020).
However, due to the limited understanding about tourism education and career opportunities, high quality jobs in tourism are still far out of reach for many Vietnamese women. With the “Vietnamese Women in Tourism” event, 4 female speakers whose successful career spreads across different sectors in tourism both in Vietnam and abroad, will share their perspectives on how the sector can become more gender-responsive as it prepares for post-pandemic recovery, and lend their “insider knowledge” to fellow women on how to build an impactful and resilient career in tourism.
