El Taller Ejecutivo de la OMT en EAU sobre “Sostenibilidad en destinos turísticos” ha finalizado el día 11 de abril
With twenty-eight participants from UAE, Australia, Monaco and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia the UNWTO Executive Education Workshop in the United Arab Emirates on “Sustainability in Tourism Destinations”, organized by the World Tourism Organization, its UNWTO Academy, in partnership with MODUL University Dubai and with the support of the Ministry of Economy of UAE, was closed on 11th April by Abdulla Al Hammadi, Director of the National Tourism Programme at the Ministry of Economy of UAE; Basmah Al-Mayman, Director of the Regional Department for the Middle East at UNWTO; Zaid Maleh, Managing Director at MODUL University Dubai; Sònia Figueras, Programme Manager at UNWTO Academy in the presence of workshop facilitators, Ana Baez and Tim Clancy.
The Workshop lasted for 3 days, where facilitators equipped participants with capacity, knowledge and skills on sustainability in tourism destinations.
During the sessions, participants acquired, with presentations and discussions, specific knowledge on the sustainable tourism and have understood the key concepts on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and competitiveness; have comprehended models and tools to measure quality in sustainable tourism destinations and have understood the profitability of sustainability in the destinations. This 3-day workshop, given by international experts, has followed a step-by-step practical methodology with short presentations, discussions, debates and extensive group work followed by practical activities.
