Activity overview: The Boğaziçi University Applied Tourism Administration and Research Centre (B.U. ATARC) undertakes research, provides consulting services, develops education programs and organizes seminars and conferences on tourism topics. B.U. ATARC has been a member of the UNWTO for more than 15 years, collaborating with the organization in several education programs and other projects. The centre has also participated in other international projects sponsored by the UNDP and UNESCO.
Specializations, Areas & Projects: Some examples of projects in which the centre has participated: - Alliance for Cultural Tourism in Kars, Eastern Anatolia, Turkey, training needs analysis: joint project of the UNWTO, UNDP, UNESCO, etc. under the MDG Achievement Fund. - Tourism Training in Azerbaijan: development of a training plan for tourism education in Azerbaijan. Sponsored by the UNDP. - Development of the Army Virtual Museum in Istanbul: sponsored by UNESCO.
Strategic vision: B.U. ATARC aspires to contribute at the national and international level to the development of tourism, by generating and disseminating knowledge on tourism and related fields, and by providing a platform for the cooperation between academicians and practitioners. Within this vision, the centre aims to carry out research, offer educational programs to the tourism sector, organize conferences and meetings and provide consultancy services in tourism.
