World Tourism Day 2024 on 27 September 2024 will explore tourism’s potential in peacebuilding and conflict resolution.
The Symposium seeks to examine the connection between tourism and peacebuilding, emphasising how travel, cultural exchange and sustainable tourism can help resolve conflicts, promote reconciliation, and foster global peace. The event will unite stakeholders from various sectors and disciplines to develop innovative ideas, strategies, and partnerships, leveraging tourism’s transformative potential to build bridges, encourage dialogue, and advance peace and reconciliation efforts worldwide.
The pursuit of peace is an ongoing effort, with tourism playing a crucial role in nurturing understanding and reconciliation between nations and cultures. Tourism’s strength lies in its ability to bring people together and support social justice, human rights, and sustainable development, contributing to a culture of peace and mutual understanding. A peace-sensitive approach to tourism is aware of economic and social responsibilities, and can drive societal transformation and the democratisation of global relations.
Besides, tourism fosters innovation and creates entrepreneurship opportunities, it needs youth participation. At the Department for Tourism Management, we work tirelessly to prepare new generations of tourism talents, our essential contribution to society to achieve social change and peace.
