We are a 48-year-old premier institute dedicated to training and certifying travel professionals. At the core part of ITMI's ethos since our founding has been the belief that travel is a “passport to peace”. We train our students - future Tour Guides, Tour Directors, Cruise Hosts, and other career paths to be thoughtful travel leaders, not just in logistics but in fostering cross-cultural understanding as global citizens. ITMI strives to promote travel equity and inclusive understanding by training a diverse set of travel professionals who can connect with travelers of all backgrounds and needs. Our goal is to ensure that people from every race, gender, nationality, and ability are empowered to explore the world through ethical and accessible tourism. Additionally, a key focus is promoting awareness around the scourge of human trafficking. As travel and tourism intersect with this critical human rights issue, we believe travel professionals have an ethical duty to combat trafficking through education, partnerships, and vigilance while on tours. ITMI has taken a leadership role in this space by integrating human trafficking training modules into certification courses. We believe we are well-qualified and aligned to support the UN's mission of promoting human rights, sustainable development, peace, security, and prosperity around the world.
