1st Tourism Working Group Meeting (online) – G20 Brazil Presidency
Under the presidency of Saudi Arabia (2020), the Ministers of Tourism approved the creation of the G20 Tourism Working Group, which aims to address priority issues for the sector to promote even stronger, more sustainable and balanced growth.
In 2024, the Brazilian Presidency of the G20 will continue the mandate of the G20 Tourism Working Group and will work under the motto "Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet" in the following priority areas:
- Tourism and Sustainable Development (Sustainable Tourism)
- Technical Qualification and Training
- Strengthening Tourism as an engine of socioeconomic development
As an International Organization, UN Tourism will work alongside the Brazilian Presidency to advance the role of tourism in the identified priority areas.
The first TWG Meeting was held online on 28-29 February 2024, bringing together delegates from the G20 and invited countries.
In 2025, South Africa will be the country holding the G20 Presidency.
